A look at the quest to dominate the battlefield with electronic trickery such as advanced weapon guidance and electronic jamming which proved so successful in the Gulf War.

Which mean that reciprocating jamming each other will negate their Advantage and secondary warfare with conventional weapons should be part of the program!
I wish to God they would actually get some video editors that can tell the difference between the F-105B, D, F and G models, let alone the F-4 and F105. As I remember it (yes, I was there) The F-4 may have flown with the Wild Weasels, but the Thuds (F-105s) were the Wild Weasels.
It wasn't until after Vietnam that the F-4s became significantly modified with the ECM systems and a pylon configuration was made that allowed the F-4 to carry and fire the AGM-78.
John McCain was a traitor and should not be in this video.
Quit making excuses for the British. They saw those ships during the Channel Dash, but the German Luftwaffe came out too, and beat the English in their own backyard. Schleswig Holstein is not in Denmark brainiac. The Chaff wasnt invented by the allies. The Germans had it during the Blitz but thought it was unwise to use it.
"As US involvement in the Vietnam war wound down" ; prize diplomatic description of losing a war about to be dragged out again for use in Afganistan…
If it doesn't sell, repackage, rename and sell it all over agian. Somehow I feel cheated. I've seen this so many times on SECRETS OF WAR…I was hoping to learn something new. All this is a a new title. Bah Humbug
And now a couple of bearded guys knock out the whole modern armada out of Afghanistan, simply not using any electronics…
GUFO RADAR
You must include the GUFO class from Italy, developed as a 200 km early warning, shipborne radar and AA fire control well as a land based ranging and fire control unit.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gufo_radar
Developed in the 1930s its formulas and algorithms were very good but hampered by insufficient funds and Fascist stupidity…
The 1940 E.C.3 version was one if the first CATHODE RAY TUBE display as the manufacturer, SAFAR, was Italy best TV SET and transmitter nanufacturer, having broadcast since 1936 and with BAIRD style sets since 1933-34…)
My own father graduated in Livorno Naval Academy in 1952 and had some pictures of the CRT display.

R V Jones, in charge of Churchill's countermeasures, continuously sought to anticipate his enemy and had countermeasures before required. Once, a hundred hospital devices were bought as time was so short. Their parts saved thousands of lives.
not well narrated 🙁
It’s not the radar it’s the golf course.
I learn more from this channel about things I never knew I cared about….
And radar ay oh oh,
and radar ay oh oh,
it's buttons, and missels,
and radar ay oh…
You didn't see this one coming!
Excellent content, impeccable narration. True quality programming.
What is a "Missle" ?
I like having Moses as narrator.
Pay no attention to the little man behind the curtain .
if i got to stand in the middle of stonehenge i’d probably start singing the Silver Shamrock jingle
Not bizzare at all. It was about sending away radiation energy ….for whatever purpose. That came after waveguides have been invented. The real affort was on conceiving the radiomagnetic source , known as magnetron valve , that was the biggest discovery .
I wonder if the narrator would be surprised to find out there is no such thing as the " Aether " .
Radar was discovered when they was trying to figure out a good accurate way to delivers a more precise way to hit targets during early days of WW2 in Germany, the father of all modern weapons..
RV Jones’ particular skill was ripping off the original work of his subordinates.

I wish this documentary was a little better researched. Developers of Chain Home were actually embarrassed at the tech they were about to ask firms to 'cut metal' on. But, the 'antiquated' tech was perfect for creating a static, seamless 'fence' in a timely way. The weakness was filtering, but that was properly addressed. Chain Home Low is more like what we would now understand as RADAR, but I don't think it could have filled the fence role. I can't help thinking that Britain's bent towards classical education blessed talent with a less constrained view. As to magnetrons, many nations had them, but their output was paltry and very unstable. The cavity magnetron, as far as I know, was a fresh approach that solved power and offered manageable stability. Strapping improved the latter. Making the body by stacking machined plates assured mass production. To me, WW2 RADAR (RDF) development is as fascinating as codebreaking.
Bismarck hunted down in 1942???? Uhhhh…no.
That sucks of the choice of narrator. I have to use my script to keep this channel from being watched on my ISP.
Radar was INVENTED, not discovered.
Please stop putting descending slide-whistle SFX over images of bombs dropping.
That's not what the magnetron was. It was not "…A small RADAR system that could be installed in aeroplanes."
As the Bismarck was in………1942? No, sunk in May of 1941.
For those who enjoyed this, and want a light hearted break. You could do worse than check out USAAF F-14 intercepts RAF Vulcan Bomber, it is so funny, I also believe the F-14 pilot didn't realise the Vulcan knew he was there all the time? You don't invent RADAR and then not know how to use it lolz.

On the back of that is how ~Britain Nuked USA, twice~ Mark Felton, but not recommended if you are a US citizen who has difficulty sleeping :-)))))))))))
Most of the 'British' planes were made in Canada as the Germans destroyed Britain's manufacturing. They used to make Spitfires, Mosquitos and other aircraft right across the street from where I live.
Britain did not stand alone in 1940 as this video states. Canada with the second largest navy in the world and with tens of thousands of fresh and eager troops stood with them. However, it is a favourite American myth to dismiss Canada in the Second World War as they claim they won the war. However, Canada was first into the Lowlands and liberated the Netherlands while Americans fought mostly in western France. The Americans mainly kept the Germans busy while the Soviets entered Berlin. The Canadians fought the Battle of the North Atlantic for six long bloody years and then once Germany surrendered they prepared a Pacific Fleet. The Canadians were just about to launch their Pacific Fleet when the Americans dropped their two bombs. The idea that America had many such bombs was not probable, but the Canadian Pacific Fleet, which was the major segment of the world's second largest navy ensured that Japan would not rise again! Let the truth be known to the world and not just Americanisms invented in Hollywood tell the story. The American make out like Canada is nothing, s their people won't be scared I think. Canada has a larger economy than Russia and has a very powerful military including powerful navy, air force and infantry.
The myth of carrots being good for your eyes is because of radar. The Brits didn't want the Germans to know how well radar worked. This misinformation worked so well, the Germans started growing carrots on a mass scale.
Germans used already Phased Array Antennas in WW2.
Evidence how far the Fnglish lagged behind !
This could be a lot shorter. I don't want a whole history of world war ii.
It wasn't the right number of chaffs in the box but chaffs of the right length. C'mon Chuck. Try to keep up!
