The G-Drive from G-Technology has held up as my new travel drive for the last week and has helped me work remotely while at a conference I’m speaking at. The G-Drive EV RaW is durable, passed my drop test and was able to take a punch to the face from me.
As far as external hard drives go it is really fast for a portable external drive since competing drives are typically only 5400 RPM when compared to this one at 7200 RPM.
They also work together with the G-Drive system which can expand for docking, RAID drives for backup and that actually makes them more flexible than a few other solutions.

What is this used for
anyone know if i can take it out the casing and use it as an internal SSD? if i take a Sata to molex cable then go directly into the motherboard?
The problem with formatting exFAT is that it's the hardest file structure to recover if a failure were to occur. Avoid when possible. However, of course there are situations when you still might want to use it.
I’d love to see a disassembly video to see if the drive inside is replaceable when / if it dies.
I'm looking to Get a rugged style hard drive to store all my FCPX events and videos on and to edit from so my computers HD can stay clean. I am currently using a late 2017 MB Pro. In your opinion would this work well. I'd prefer the SSD version of this, but the price difference is much more and is out of my budget. Currently have a PC, but planning on getting a Macbook Air soon and start making some vids. Researching hard drives to archive my footage/videos on, as well as photos. Also, looking at the possibility of wireless drives as well. Something that will work with Mac/PC. This drive is rugged! Thanks for clueing me in!
